The Fine Print

All students must be paid in full or have a payment plan in place before the first class of a session. Any students with outstanding balances after the second class will not be allowed to continue.

Students who have graduated from another improv theater’s yearlong training program are allowed to skip Level 1 Improv and start at Level 2. We ask that all other students start at level 1 regardless of their experience.  If you meet the criteria and wish to start at Level 2, please send an email to ctconservatory@gmail.com before registering.

2017 Winter Intensive: Seriously Funny

“Every scene we do goes straight to Crazy Town.”

“We try to play real, but then nothing happens.”

“I know we’re not supposed to be worried about how many laughs we’re getting, but we’re not getting any laughs.”

If you’ve ever thought any of these things, this intensive is for you. If you’ve ever gotten stuck in a scene where everything is so weird that nothing matters, or one where everything is so real that nothing happens, we’ve got your back.

No matter which end of the spectrum you (think you) fall on, this intensive will help you integrate what’s already right there in your scene to make it deeper, richer, funnier, and more surprising. If you’re a fast player comfortable with big moves, we’ll help you ground that in context and realism to make it sharper and funnier. If you’re a slow, patient player, we’ll show you how to ratchet up what’s important about your scene without sacrificing the emotional realism.

Come join some of the city’s best teachers in a three-day intensive dedicated to proving a single equation: real + funny = real funny.

This intensive is recommended for people who’ve been improvising for at least six months. (Classes count!)

The intensive will run from Friday Dec. 29th to Sunday Dec. 31st. Each day will consist of two sessions (10-1 and 2-5) with an hour for lunch. PLEASE NOTE: the first two days of the intensive will take place at ColdTowne Conservatory (6929 Airport Blvd.), while the Sunday sessions will be at ColdTowne Theater (4803 Airport Blvd.).
